Mouth guard: An orthodontic mouth guard should be worn for all contact sports, including practice. Ice the injured area for 1st 24 hrs (on 10 minutes, off 10 minutes). After that use warm compresses. Take 1 200mg advil/motrin/ibuprofen every 4 hours with lots of food or liquids. Have your orthodontic specialist check you for tissue damage, tooth damage, and braces damage, all of which need immediate care.
