About 8 to 10 years.: A typical survival time for a person with HIV (from diagnosis to death) in the pre-medication era was 8 to 10 years. Now that there are multiple good medications that can be used in combinations (highly active antiretroviral therapy / haart), persons with HIV and even with aids can live for several decades with good care and healthy lifestyle choices. Hope that this helps.
