Illness vs season: Contrary to popular belief, sickness/illness aren't caused by season per se but by germs. In other words, winter season isn't why someone gets a cold. Colds are caused by viruses which you can pick up year round. But perhaps certain viruses can survive better in colder climates which explains influenza season every winter (http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-01/fyi-why-winter-flu-season).
