See the orthodontist: When a wire pops out the tooth can start moving back toward its original position almost immediately. The sooner the wire is reattached the less likely your treatment will be prolonged. When you are well into treatment and have heavier wires, it may not be possible to reengage your current wire and you may have to go backwards if you wait too long.

Brace emergency: Call your doctor's office to report the problem. If it is not bothering you , leave it alone. If it is an irritant place some wax or sugarless gum over it until you can be seen.
