Simplex-zoster or no: Did the spots come first or after? Shingles tends to have large papules in the upper arm which may crust. Pain may start before or after the eruption. Herpes simplex generally has smaller lesions but rarely has pain. Other considerations range from syphilis to foot & mouth disease plus many others. Consult a dermatologist and/or a neurologist.
