A member asked:

Docs can you explain, is it too young to have wisdom teeth at 16?

No: The time to remove wisdom teeth depends on the position and development of the tooth, rather than the age of the patient. Ideally, wisdom teeth indicated for removal should be removed before the roots are fully developed. Some 16 year olds may have wisdom teeth that are more developed than many older patients. Your dentist can advise you when your should consider having them removed.

No: No. I routinely remove wisdom teeth in 14 year olds. Make sure you see an oral surgeon for surgery.
