Not known: It is a movement disorder. Most of the time causes are unknown but in few cases, it occurs after conditions affecting brain like parkinson's, huntington, stroke, tumor etc. One of the way to treat it effectively is botulinum injection like botox.

Several: Dytonia can be hereditary or caused by other factors such as medication , birth-related, physical trauma, or even certain infections. In some cases dystonia can be spontaneous with no known cause.
