Yes: Gingivitis is sore, inflamed gums. It is very easy to spot at a regular dental check up. About 80% of the patients i see each day have gingivitis to some degree. Getting your teeth cleaned a the dentist will give you a clean start and continued good oral hygiene at home will allow it to heal in 10-14 days.

Of course: Red, swollen, or tender gums can be a sign that you are at risk for, or already have, gum disease. Untreated gingivitis can advance to periodontitis and can eventually lead to the tooth loss and other health problems. See your dentist ASAP because the sooner you treat it the better the outcome.
