Parotid gland?: Jaw pain with opening mouth and same sided "knot" in a thirties male raises concern for a parotid salivary gland mass, and this needs to be diagnosed by a doctor.

TMJ problem: Sounds like a TMJ problem. Knot probably the condyle of the lower jaw. See oral surgeon or TMJ expert.
