Is sugar the main cause of diabetes?

Diabetes: There are several types of diabetes. In type one it is the failure of the pancreas that causes the diabetes. In adult onset it is usually obesity, excess calories and excess sugars that lead to the disease. But there are more specific things to talk about that are outside of the scope of this application.
