What is the reason behind (diarrhea followed by constipation ) like in case of colon cancer ?

Partial obstruction : When the colon gets partially blocked (as in some cancers) stool can back up and constipation occurs. When constipation is longstanding, liquid stool moves around the blockage. This is called post obstructive diarrhea. Constipation appears to follow the diarrhea but was really there to begin with. In these cases a full workup and a gentle clean out is required. Visit your doctor for both.
