A member asked:

I took 2 pregnant tests and they both came back negative. i'm spotting now. when does the hcg go up? i didn't get my monthly this month. (due on nov 29)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At implantation: If an embryo is floating towards the uterus, there isn't any HCG to go into the woman's bloodstream yet (thus no rise in HCG in her blood and urine). At implantation, the HCG can now get into the woman's bloodstream, and after a few days will be at a high enough level to be detectable. A urine pregnancy test done correctly will give a reliable result the week after missing a period.
