This depends...: On how the surgery is being performed. If the tympanoplasty is performed through the ear canal, the incision above the ear is used to harvest the graft and may be 1 to 2 inches in length. If the surgeon is using an approach that makes the incision behind the ear than the incision will be quite long and hidden behind the ear.
