Some problem: By definition if you are sleeping enough hours 7-8 and not feeling refreshed or tired there is a problem. It could very possibly be a sleep disorder but other things could be the problem as well. You need to have a detailed discussion with your doctor and possibly a work up for other causes and maybe a work up for a sleep disorder.

Sleep Disorder: If after adequate sleep, you still feel sleepy you need to usually rule out sleep apnea with a overnight in lab study and other sleep disorders. Medical exam and labs may also find causes.

How many hours?: Keep reg. bed & wake time. Make routine: warm bath /shower, aromatherapy, read, or gentle music. Sleep in dark, quiet, cool room w comfy mattress/pillows & no work materials or computer. Bedroom only for sleep & sex. No food 2-3 hrs, caffeine w/i 6 hrs, alcohol or smoking w/i 2 hrs of bed. Exercise at least few hrs before bed. No naps. Retire only if tired. Deal wi problems at another time.
