Mouth blisters: Hand foot and mouth disease is caused by a virus, and usually goes away in 7-10 days. The pain from mouth blisters can be helped by staying away from spicy and acidic foods and drinks (maintaining a bland diet). Check with your dentist or medical doctor about pain meds (tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil). Orabase ointment can be applied to the blisters before meals. It is non-prescription and sticks to the mouth.
