Probably better!: Running (and walking) is good exercise but swimming is even better as it provides more exercise to the arms as well as legs and does not put as much stress on your knee, hip and ankle joints as it is not weight-bearing.

Better: Much kinder to the joints and tend to work a lot more muscles. Sometimes have a problem with finding the time to get to a pool, but a great full body exercise.

Yes: some would say even better as you burn more calories faster and work more muscles (and I am an avid runner!).
