I have been taking tegretol to control seizures since 1987. just curious if there are better drugs that will not impact my liver.

There are others: There are other agents that do not have the same impact on the liver but have their own assorted assundry of side effects. Tegretol is an excellent agent for partial complex seizures but needs monitoring just as any other antiepileptic. Unless there is a compelling reason to change then sticking with what works is usually best. Keep an eye on your bone health and lfts and you should be good.
