How are antipsychaotic drugs like compazine (prochlorperazine) used for sedation and psychosis when they cause akithesia and dystonia? i've seen it make people crazier

Antipsychotics: Every medication has side-effects, and antipsychotics are no exception. If used cautiously ; with clear indications ; close monitoring, they are for the most part safe.

Side effects: Not everyone experiences akathisia or dystonia with compazine (prochlorperazine). It's used for nausea, but being a phenothiazine can also cause these side effects. Intense agitation ; restlessness are part of akathisia. Phenothiazines (thorazine, mellaril, etc) are more sedating than other antipsychotic medications. More potent ones (like Compazine (prochlorperazine) ; stelazine, etc) are more likely to cause dystonia ; akathisia.
