Drooling: Sometimes we see some kids drool more than the others, no reason is found. Common causes: throat /tonsil infection, teething, poor oral hygiene, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, allergies, nasal congestion with post-nasal drip, etc. Check with her pediatrician, she might need a dental check up and if needed an ENT referral.

Another cause of : drooling's persisting past 18 mos. is low tone/weakness of mouth & tongue muscles used for eating, drinking & speech, which is the motor aspect of language. If she's not feeding herself with a spoon, drinking from an open-mouth cup, saying 20 or more words & 2-word phrases like "Mommy, keys", call 3-1-1, NYC's "totline" for developmental assessment & referral for any needed therapy.
