Psychiatric consult: Since we don't know all that goes into your obsession with wet sponges, i suggest you see a psychiatrist for evaluation and recommendations. You could have a form of obsessive compulsive disorder, and this can be treated with a combination of psychotherapy and medications as needed. You'd have opportunity to discuss these issues in detail so you get the appropriate help. Best wishes.
