Nope: Small cavities can be very sensitive while large ones may not hurt. There is no valid correlation to size and sensitivity. Everyone should get routine dental checkups every 6 months on average to check for cavities and gum health. Especially when you are aware of tooth pain, it would be prudent and smart to have it checked out right away. Don't postpone the visit and be sorry when it flares up!

Tooth decay: Is permanently damaged area in the hard surface of your tooth: enamel, dentin or root surface. The cavity is caused by bacteria, poor oral hygiene and frequent consumptions of sweets. If cavity is not treated, it get larger and affect deeper layers of your teeth and you might need a root canal or tooth extraction. Rec.: see your dentist for x-ray and treatment regardless of the size of the cavity.
