Depends: Depends on what causes your sensitivity, the condition of the teeth (intact or broken fillings, decay, abrasion, cracked teeth, traumatic occlusion(bad bite)), the condition of your gums (periodontal disease gumline recession). See your dentist for an evaluation and treatment specific to your needs.

Sensitive teeth: The pain of sensitive teeth can be managed with a few simple home remedies. Use Sensodyne tooth paste. Avoid using hard-bristled toothbrushes and avoid hard foods. Also avoid or limit acidic items like sodas, tomatoes, oranges and lemons. See your dentist on regular basis for cleaning and prophylaxis.
