Poking wire: This is quite common, so call your orthodontist/dentist's office for help. The visit will be quite short--if the wire is a bit too long, and can be shortened, a little cutting will help. If you were given a string of wax, dry the area and press a piece over the wire end and bracket to make the rough, sharp area into smooth, round surface. A round resin "ball" placed on the end may be helpful also.
