Gum or clot?: Please see the dentist asap. Tenderness after extraction is common--usually most pronounced in the first 48 hrs. As for the "white gums", you may be seeing the clotted blood in the socket--it will turn color from dark red to pale yellow then into almost white. This is normal, but if the gum is turning white instead, the gum may not be getting enough circulation. This needs dentist's exam ; help.
