Immediate?: There are two denture names that sound like 'intermediate'--immediate denture, which is placed immediately after removing teeth (thus the name); and interim denture, which is designed to be just a short-term. Since you are worried about hurting, I am guessing it is an immediate denture. Since it is placed right over the swelling extraction wound it is important to get it adjusted often if painful.

Not necessarily: Remember, teeth are removed and dentures are immediately placed. Your gums are healing and shrinking and any pain you experience is from that. In other words your dentures are fixed in size but your gums on which they rest are changing, shrinking. Pain is due to the fact that the dentures need to be cut down as you heal.
