No: Best thing to do with a dental abscess is 1) take antibiotics to prevent the spread of infection 2) rinse with warm salt water to help with drainage 3) go to your dentist asap!

Gauze?: If you are asking, "my dentist gave me gauze to bite on after removing an abscessed tooth" it should be changed every 20 minutes until the bleeding stops. No, don't sleep with gauze, can cause airway obstruction. If gauze being used for any other reason, ask your dentist for advice. Don't try to fix this yourself. You can't. See dentist asap.
