Get another opinion: Have the dentist explain what he saw to you and if you are uncomfortable with his findings, see another dentist to have them evaluate it.

Different opinions: Having been in practice for over 35 years I have seen some dentists aggressive when determining if a small lesion is a cavity or not, & others who are very conservative in their approach. We often deal with "shades of gray" rather than black & white and judgement & experience are called into question. You may have 6 or you may have none or more likely whether to treat or not is a judgement call.
