Why is it, when you "sleep wrong", you can be sore for days or weeks, but it doesn't wake you up?

Depends: Most cases of waking with discomfort associated with a position, is a transient neuropraxia. This is when you put focal external pressure on a limb that causes pressure on a deeper nerve. The nerve really can stop or change its ability to feel sensation or move, however it is really noticed after you awaken, as the nerve tries to wake up, it gives altered signals that can be interpreted as pain.
