Investigate more: That is an important diagnosis to make if you do have it. Ptsd symptoms don't always manifest right after the event, and it's not uncommon for it to take quite awhile. This can make the DX challenging. I'd talk more with your counselor and possibly get another opinion. Good luck.

Diagnostic Assessmen: Some counselors are diagnosticians & others are not. Some providers are highly experienced in working with ptsd & others have little experience with it. Have you considered asking your counselor about a diagnostic evaluation by a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist who has expertise in ptsd?
