Taking symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) as only med for asthma. dont need to use everyday. only few times a week. not symptoms everyday. change to another kind of med?

Check with md: Symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) is a "controller" and must be used daily. If your symptoms are "intermittent" you may want to discuss this with your physician. Perhaps the symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) can be stopped all together but dont make that decision on your own.

Asthma med: Symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) is a preventer medication. If you're not taking it daily and you're still well, it means either of two things. You either do not have asthma or your asthma is under good control so that you can be stepped down to another medication that contains only steroid. Symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) contains a steroid and a long acting bronchodilator. Speak to your doctor.
