Yes, absolutely: Childhood abuse can result in many adult sequelae such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. It may also result in limiting one's life because of extreme avoidance behavior. If there has also been neglect (emotional or otherwise) during childhood, the situation is worsened due to difficulty trusting potential helpers. Physical symptoms such as chronic pain may happen too.

ABUSE: Experience growing up will shift the direction of development. Abuse will alter beliefs about self and others - one's probable future, self worth, the goodness (or badness ) of the whole world. Child abuse will alter a life. And when that child grows up it will alter the lives of his children.

Varies Widely: Survivors of trauma, incl. Sexual abuse, behave in all sorts of ways. Whether or not their behavior reflects their trauma depends on how they coped with it - incl. The stories they told themselves about it, stories they may have told others about it, etc. These stories capture how they made sense of the trauma ; the meaning they gave it. How they coped likely also reflected the support they had.
