A member asked:

Does everyone who wants a drastic change by cosmetic surgery be required to have a psychiatric letter?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually yes: Very often, patients requesting cosmetic surgery are required to get a psychiatric evaluation. This because patient may have underlying psychiatric disorders and cosmetic surgery will not improve them. Patients also sometimes will never be satisfied or can file a lawsuit for unrealistic reasons.
