Yes: Piercing the septum created an opening between the r;l nasal airway. There is always the risk of infection. Deviation, scar formation and whistling sounds with nasal breathing.

Septal piercing: DON'T DO IT. It isn't worth it. It puts you at risk for infections and discomfort.
