Probably, but check: With your orthopod or whoever is treating you, as they know more about your injury, the diagnosis, etc. I don't think anyone else should be telling you anything except the person who knows you best. It depends upon the severity of the injury, stability of the fx and what if any neurological injury you had. Most likely it wasn't a bad injury but it'll be safer for you, to check with your orthopod.

Follow instructions : Given to you by your treating physician/surgeon. Wear you brace while up out of bed. You will need close follow-up visits, to closely watch the alignment of your thoracic fracture.
