Many Causes: Back pain can come on suddenly and be very severe. It may start for no reason at all. Some physicians believe it is due to a small tear in the disc although this is not proven. The best thing to do is stay down, use heat and take pain relievers if necessary. If the pain does not resolve in 2-3 days, see your doctor or a chiropractor.
