You can ask : You certainly may have that discussion with your doctor anytime but that doesn't mean they will agree. Normally inductions are reserved for medical complications of pregnancy in which the baby needs to be delivered. Some offer elective inductions of labor but not until after 39 weeks and usually only when the cervix is dilated.
