Time per week: Recent study suggested that to maintain health in a young woman about 6 hours and 15 mins per week at target heart rate. Best achieved at no less than 3 different different days. So four days a week is adequate as long as it adds up to 6 hours and 15 minutes. This does not include warm up, and cool down.

Exercise is good: Using the elliptical is cardiovascular activity (increasing your heart rate). It is recommended that you do 20-30 minutes of activity 4 days (minimum) per week. If you are able to do more, that is great. Check with your physician before starting a rigorous exercise regimen. Happy exercising!
