Fever?: How many days of illness? A virus should last for no more than two weeks of febrile illness. Anything more than that needs to be re- evaluated.

Confusing question: You list diagnoses but not treatment. Both chronic sinusitis and pneumonia are are likely bacterial if symptoms persist and are treated with antibiotics.A kid can have both the conditions listed at the same time. If antibiotics were started but fever persists for over 3 days, a change is in order. If not treated, it is time to do so. After starting meds, it does take a day or 2 to see fever subside.

CF screening/treat: If he has chronic sinus symptoms and pneumonia with continued fever, he should be re evaluated. Your physician may order a chest radiograph to determine if he has pneumonia. In addition, they may check his white cell count and CRP prior to ordering an antibiotic. Rinsing the sinuses with saline also helps to keep the passages clear. He should also be screened for CF, a genetic lung disease.
