A 31-year-old member asked:

what is in nutrilite protein powder used for?

Protein substitute: It is advertised as a replacement for meat/dairy sources of protein. It has no advantage over normal foods and costs much more. No sense wasting your money. Use lean meats and nonfat milk instead. If you wish to go vegetarian, then you will need to make sure that you have a guide so that you know what you are doing. The foods have to provide complementary proteins. Lact-ovo vegetarianism is best.

Beef, fish, chicken: Unless there are reasons that a regular diet is not sufficient to provide nutrition to a youngster, protein powders are not needed. The appetite of a normal teen should allow the intake of adequate protein. If high protein is needed suggest eating high protein foods. The protein powders hold no special advantage to growth or health.
