A cyst: There is a possibility that you have a cyst or a mass in the calf muscle that causes this. The most common cause is a baker's that comes off the back of the knee joint ansd comes between the orgin of some of the muscles in the calf. An MRI can help determine the "cause" of the "pop".

Could be a number of: Possibilities; like a muscle or tendon tear; a rupture of a baker's cyst ( from behind the knee joint), or rarely a cyst in a bone, can break. Depending on what your symptoms are, after it popped, your pcp could certainly make a diagnosis with help of an xray, an us of the soft tissues or other tests. See your pcp. Good luck.
