FEVER: Fever is common in infant and children. 1st yr. Infant can have up to 6 febrile episodes, mostly viral. As age advances febrile episodes reduce as they become resistant to similar viral illnesses bc of development of immunity. Viral fever lasts from 3-5 d, max. 7 d. Can give acetaminophen-12-15 mg/kg/dose/ 4-6 hr or Ibuprofen - 10mg/kg/ dose/ 6-8 hr. When fever is 101 degree f or above.
