Could sciatica make your ankle swell up?

Not directly: Sciatica is irritation of your sciatic nerve in your back or thigh so it has no direct effect on your ankle. However, the pain and numbness can cause an alteration in the way you walk, which can cause unusual strain on your ankle, causing swelling.

No: Could be something else, blood clot or you could be having something called complex regional pain syndrome (crps). Either way, i would have it checked out soon to make sure its not a big issue, which both of those things are.
