A member asked:

Should i be getting amalgam fillings in wet environments?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ideally no, but okay: Amalgam, unlike composite is a much more forgiving material for dentists to work with. Composite fillings require complete isolation from saliva, blood, and moisture. Amalgam is not affected by these nearly as much. That being said, precautions should be taken to minimize these contaminants during the placement of any amalgam filling.
