Yes!: There are many foods that can irritate the bladder, making bladder spasms worse.The key foods to avoid: caffeine in coffee, tea and sodas; alcohol; citrus and pineapple; spicy foods; chocolate; raw onions; vinegar and soy sauce; artificial sweeteners; and yes, even cranberry juice. Drink lots of water to keep your urine dilute, and add the foods back one at a time to see which ones cause spasms.

Bladder spasm: Horse. This is an interesting question. There is a school of thought that the bladder, like the bowels, has a sensitivity to certain elements of the diet. (interstitial cystitis behaves much like inflammatory bowel disease). You are in charge here. Keep a diary of you bladder symptoms (on paper) and note what worsens your symptoms. Pay attention to artificial sweeteners. Good luck!
