Are there any herbal supplements that can be ingested to prevent cardiomyopathy?

Herbs and CM: There are no clinical studies in reputable journals that support the use of herbal supplements to prevent cardiomyopathy. The best way to prevent cardiomyopathy is to make sure that your blood pressure is well controlled and that you do not develop diabetes.

Possibly curcumin &: More research needs to be done, but studies on mice suggest curcumin, extracted from turmeric, may have a very beneficial effect in cardiomyopathy; it is certainly harmless to try- see www.Lef.Org/newsletter/2008/0304_curcumin-may-help-prevent-heart-failure.Htm. Other herbs including hawthorne & coleus may also be beneficial, though more research is needed- see my comment for more information.
