Perfectly OK: A local anesthetic or steroid shot in the foot does not affect your breast milk. If you received antibiotics, check with your doc to remind them to give you one that allows you to breast feed. Ps - congratulations for breast feeding your infant! keep up the good work.

Yes: The shot should not affect breast feeding if it was done with Lidocaine or marcaine.

Yes: This should not affect your baby at all. The answer does depend somewhat on what your foot was numbed with, but probably Lidocaine was used. Here's a link to info on Lidocaine and breast milk: http://toxnet.Nlm.Nih.Gov/cgi-bin/sis/search/f?./temp/~l8xcxt:1.

Yes: A numbing shot in the foot usually has anesthetic (like you get at the dentist) and cortisone to help with the inflammation. The body doesn't process these the same way they do when you take pills for it, it just stays in the area where it was put with the needle, so it shouldn't affect your baby. Good luck and congratulations!
