Fear: Anxiety is our body response to an uncomfortable thought or upcoming event, (i.e. Test anxiety). For you, anxiety comes during a time of the year that brings about fear or apprehension about this time of year or events that are occurring or have occurred during this time. (i.e. Accident, death, holiday tension). It is extending to january because the triggers to anxiety aren't being addressed.

Emotional triggers: It's hard to say, but it sounds like this time of year creates an emotional trigger for you. Seasonal depression is more common around this time of year and often anxiety is coupled with depression. I recommend exploring this in therapy. When we learn about triggers, we can then learn how to prepare/cope with the emotions that follow.
