I have been on 15 fioricet day for almost a year my doc has me tapering 1pill every other day. is that too fast. i am also on xanax (alprazolam) for anxiety ?

May be too fast: could get rebound headache. would taper every 4-5 days

Weaning safely: Fioricet--butalbital (barbiturate, acetaminophen, caffeine). 15 Fioricet contain potentially toxic dose of acetaminophen – not good. Barbiturate will sedate/relax you – similar to Xanax (alprazolam). Taking both together potentially dangerous. I would immediately drop from 15 to 12 tablets then one tablet every three – five days, minimize potential problems/increased anxiety/activation of latent seizure focus.
