Anxiety: I understand your concern. Citalopram is used for Treatment of Depression; it is not a Medication for Anxiety. Its side effect can be Anxiety. See a Psychiatrist for Diagnosis, gradual withdrawal of Citalopram, discuss benefits and side effects of Ativan, Xanax (alprazolam) or Buspar; and Therapy for stress in your life. Do Breathing and Music Relaxation, Visual Imagery, Yoga, Meditation, Tai Chi and Exercise

Citalopram: It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for full effect. FDA indication: depression. Celexa is used off-label for treatment of generalized anxiety D/O, panic D/O, binge -eating D/O, obsessive -compulsive D/O & premenstrual dysphoric D/O.
