SGLT-2 Inhibitor: One of the newest diabetic medications on the market is the sglt-2 inhibitor, canagliflozin. It works by inhibiting the sglt-2 (sodium glucose transoporter) in the kidney. This allows the body to urinate more of the glucose out of the body. It can also help with weight loss and blood pressure. There is an increased risk of yeast infections (yeast loves the extra sugar in the urine!).
